Katie Fforde

Katie Fforde (* 27. September 1952 as Catherine Rose Gordon-Cumming in London ) is a British writer .

life and career

She was born in 1952 in Wimbledon , London , where she spent her childhood. She has been married to Desmond Fforde, a cousin of the writer Jasper Fforde , since 1972, and they have two sons and a daughter. Katie Fforde began her writing career after the birth of her youngest child with the 1995 novel Living Dangerously . She often brings autobiographical elements to her romantic novels. Her novel Going Dutch reached the Sunday Times top ten bestseller list in June 2007 .

She is the founder of the Katie Fforde Bursary , a scholarship that supports promising writers through to the conclusion of a book deal. For many years she was a committee member of the British Romantic Novelists' Association , from 2009 to 2011 she was its 25th chairman. In June 2010 she was appointed patron of the first National Short Story Week.

Since 2009, the German production company Network Movie has been filming her novels on behalf of ZDF for its ZDF Sunday film series . The filming locations are in New England , USA.

Katie Fforde lives with her family in Stroud in southwestern English county of Gloucestershire .
