First ascent local people

The Kegelkopf is a 1959  m high grass mountain in the Allgäu Alps , where two summit points ( 1959  m and 1937  m ) can be distinguished. It separates the Dietersbachtal and the Traufbachtal and, together with the Fürschießer, forms part of the typical Allgäu mountain scenery south of Oberstdorf .

Ascent

There are no marked hiking trails on the Kegelkopf, only a difficult-to-find Jägersteig. Therefore, it is mostly climbed by locals. Like the other grass mountains in the Allgäu Alps, the Kegelkopf has a very interesting botany, which can be compared with that of Höfats or Schneck , especially on the south-east ridge leading down to the Krautersalpe .

The Giebelalpe on the south side of the Kegelkopf has not been cultivated for many decades. Therefore, the paths that were still marked in older maps have now fallen into disrepair.
