Kennan Adeang

Kennan Ranibok Adeang (* December 23, 1942 - December 26, 2011 ) was a Nauruan politician and President of the Republic of Nauru from September 17 to October 1, 1986, for a few days in December 1986 and from November 26, 1996 to 19. December 1996. He was the father of David Adeang .

Adeang received his further education in Sydney at the Australian School of Pacific Administration (ASOPA) , which he graduated in 1963.

Adeang was on 17 September 1986 after a vote of no confidence against Hammer Deroburt elected president, after a renewed confidence vote he was removed 14 days later from the same Parliament again and again chosen DeRoburt. The following December the scenario was repeated again: DeRoburt was voted out of parliament again and Adeang was again president. Only a few days later he was deposed again and DeRoburt was re-elected president.

After this preliminary final election, Adeang founded the formal opposition party Democratic Party of Nauru and, with the help of party comrades in parliament, was able to force another vote of no confidence in DeRoburt on August 17, 1989. Kenos Aroi was elected as the new president and Adeang became finance minister. However, both resigned four months later as Aroi suffered from heart problems and resigned.

Kennan Adeang's son David Adeang founded together with u. a. Kieren Keke another formal opposition party, the Naoero Amo Party.
