Kenton County is a county in the US state of Kentucky in the United States . The county seat is in the two cities of Independence and Covington , named after Leonard Covington , a general in the War of 1812 .

The county is located in the far north of Kentucky, borders Ohio , separated by the Ohio River and has an area of 426 square kilometers, of which six square kilometers are water. It is bordered in a clockwise direction by the following counties: Campbell County , Pendleton County , Grant County, and Boone County .
history
Kenton County was formed on January 29, 1840 from parts of Campbell County. It was named after Simon Kenton .
Historical objects
In Covington is of the historic building Bavarian Brewing Company . The former brewery was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996 .
A total of 69 buildings and sites in the county are listed on the National Register of Historic Places (as of October 5, 2017). Two objects have the status of a National Historic Landmark because of their special historical significance , the Daniel Carter Beard Boyhood Home and the John A. Roebling Suspension Bridge .

According to the 2000 census , Kenton County had 151,464 people in 59,444 households and 39,470 families. The population density was 361 inhabitants per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 93.99 percent white, 3.84 percent African American, 0.15 percent Native American, 0.59 percent Asian, 0.03 percent of residents from the Pacific island area and 0.41 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 1.00 percent were descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 1.10 percent of the population.
Of the 59,444 households, 33.4 percent had children and young people under the age of 18 living with them. 50.1 percent were married couples living together, 12.1 percent were single mothers, 33.6 percent were non-families, 27.8 percent were single households, and 9.0 percent had people aged 65 years or over. The average household size was 2.52 and the average family size was 3.11.
For the entire county, the population was composed of 26.3 percent of residents under 18 years of age, 9.2 percent between 18 and 24 years of age, 31.9 percent between 25 and 44 years of age, 21.4 percent between 45 and 64 years of age 11.1 percent were 65 years of age or over. The median age was 34 years. For every 100 females there were 96.2 males. For every 100 women 18 years of age or older there were statistically 91.9 men.
The median income for a household in the county is $ 43,906 , and the median income for a family is $ 52,953. Males had a median income of $ 37,845 versus $ 27,253 for females. The per capita income was $ 22,085. 7.1 percent of families and 9.0 percent of the population were below the poverty line. Of these, 12.0 percent were children or adolescents under 18 years of age and 7.7 percent were people over 65 years of age.
