Kirk DeMicco is an American journalist , writer , film director, and producer .

Kirk DeMicco grew up in the suburbs of Franklin Lakes , New Jersey .

journalism

After completing his master's degree in economics and political science at the University of Southern California in 1991 , he worked as a journalist in Italy for three years. He interviewed workers in the Italian film industry for an Italian film business magazine. After returning to the USA in 1994, he worked for the William Morris Agency in New York and Los Angeles .

Screenwriter, film producer and film director

The first script DeMicco sold was called A Day in November (bought from Warner Bros. and producer Arnold Kopelson for $ 1 million). Next he wrote Quest for Camelot . He later wrote the script for Racing Stripes and worked on its production (Director: Frederik Du Chau ). John Cleese and DeMicco wrote the film adaptation of Roald Dahl's classic The Twits . He wrote the script for "Splitting Adam". and Here Comes Peter Cottontail: The Movie and then Casper's Scare School . In 2008 he wrote the screenplay for Space Chimps , which he also directed under producer John H. Williams for Vanguard Animation . This film was inspired by the first chimpanzee in space, Ham . While working for Warner Bros., he and Du Chau wrote the script for the film Hong Kong Phooey , which they sold to Alcon Entertainment . He also revised scripts for Disney, Warner Bros., DreamWorks and Spyglass. For television, he worked as an executive producer on the Discovery Channel documentary "HALO: Freefall Warriors." He eventually wrote the script for The Croods , directed by Chris Sanders and produced by DreamWorks Animation . Animated film The Croods was presented on March 22, 2013 at the 63rd Berlinale .
