The Klassikerstraße is a holiday route in Thuringia .

It leads through important cities of the Weimar Classic , such as Eisenach and Weimar , through the Thuringian Forest and through Erfurt , Jena , Meiningen , Ilmenau and Rudolstadt .

Cities on the road

  • The university city of Jena , a center of the optical industry, is particularly interesting for its 127 m high office tower, other architecturally interesting quarters and a botanical garden.
  • Many buildings in the Renaissance style and a porcelain industry are attractive features of the city of Rudolstadt , but the Paulinzella monastery ruins, the Schillerhaus, the Kochberg moated castle and the Heidecksburg are also tourist attractions.
  • In Ilmenau there is a Goethe and a glass museum , as well as a Goethe house and some magnificent buildings from the time as a spa and bathing resort.

People like Johann Wolfgang von Goethe , Friedrich Schiller, Duchess Anna Amalia and Johann Sebastian Bach are closely connected to the history of classical music in Thuringia . There are therefore many monuments and museums about these people on the street.
