Klaus Flouride (born May 30, 1949 in Detroit , Michigan ; real name Geoffrey Lyall ) became known as the bassist of the Californian political punk band Dead Kennedys . He is also active as a solo musician, music producer and guitarist in numerous bands.

biography

Lyall's musical career began in the late 1960s as a guitarist. He played in numerous smaller bands in Detroit and the surrounding area. With Billy Squier , he started the Magic Terry & the Universe project and moved to New York City and then to Boston . During this time he also began to work as a singer-songwriter .

In 1977 Lyall moved to San Francisco , where he came into contact with the punk scene .

Lyall joined the Dead Kennedys in June 1978, using the pseudonym Klaus Flouride. He played bass there until the breakup in 1986. He was involved in all of the band's albums and wrote the song Dog Bite . After the Plastic Surgery Disasters , he released his first solo single Shortnin 'Bread ( B-side : The Drowning Cowboy ) and the album Cha Cha Cha with Mr. Flouride . He also joined The Nimrods . At the same time he made a name for himself as a producer, among others for The Dicks and Angst.

After the end of the Dead Kennedys he continued to work as a producer and studio musician and participated in numerous bands. He is also involved in the Dead Kennedys reunion without Jello Biafra .
