Klaus Wesch (* in Hanover ; † 1991 ) was a German rugby player.

Life

Of the 256 Hanoverians who fought in the German Rugby Union national team between 1927 and 1991 , Klaus Wesch was one of the most successful with 32 international matches after Horst Kemmling and Robert Twele .

As an athlete in TSV Victoria Linden , which was the most successful German rugby club in the second half of the 20th century, Wesch was - alongside Heinrich Eilers ( SC Germania List ) and Werner Behring ( SV 1908 Ricklingen ) - a member of the European technical commission Rugby Association Fédération Internationale de Rugby Amateur Association Européenne de Rugby (FIRA).

Wesch won the German rugby championship with TSV Victoria Linden from 1954 to 1956, 1958, 1962, 1965, 1969 and 1972 .

As an individual athlete, Wesch was awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf and - shortly before his untimely death in 1991 - was elected Vice President of the FIRA.
