Klaus Westebbe (born September 30, 1949 in Gummersbach ) is a German handball player .

Westebbe, who started out as a gymnast at TuS Derschlag , switched to the club's handball department at the age of eleven. Still active there in the left back space, the then toolmaker's apprentice went to the center of the circle after moving to VfL Gummersbach in 1968 . He made his debut in the handball Bundesliga on October 5, 1968 with two goals in an 18: 6 win against BSV Solingen 98 . In his very first season he became German champions with Gummersbach, which were to be followed by five more. At national level he was able to celebrate two more successes in the DHB Cup and in around 80 European Cup games he won five European Cups at international level.

For winning the 1970 European Cup, he was awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf on May 6, 1970.

His career in the DHB national team began on November 10, 1971 at the Carpathian tournament in Galați against France. He was part of the squad at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich as well as at the 1974 World Cup in the GDR . The 52nd and at the same time last international match he played as captain on January 4, 1975 in a 15:12 win against Sweden in Minden . Then national coach Vlado Stenzel told Gummersbacher that he would no longer consider him in the top seven, whereupon Westebbe never wanted to play under Stenzel again.

On the advice of doctors, Westebbe ended his career in the spring of 1982 due to high blood pressure and heart muscle damage .

In 2007 Westebbe coached the B-youth and the 2nd men's team of VfL Gummersbach.
