Kleblach-Lind is a municipality with 1170 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in the Spittal an der Drau district in Carinthia.

geography

The municipality of Kleblach-Lind is located at the eastern end of the upper Drautal , about 10 km as the crow flies from the district capital Spittal an der Drau . The two largest and eponymous localities are separated from each other by the Drava .

Community structure

Kleblach-Lind is divided into the two cadastral communities Blaßnig and Lind. The municipality includes the following nine localities (population in brackets as of January 1, 2020):

history

Above Lind, two ruins of castles that were built in the High Middle Ages (in the 11th or 12th centuries) testify to the earlier history of the rulership of today's municipal area. They belonged to followers of the Counts of Görz-Tirol , who have been calling themselves after Lind since 1166. The oldest member of the established line of ancestors was Wulfing von Lind, son of a local judge and servant Count Albrechts von Görz. As a result, the Lords of Lind were among the most important fiefdoms of the Gorizia. A name bearer built Raggnitz southwest of Lind in the late Middle Ages, Adam Jakob von Lind acquired Groppenstein Castle near Obervellach in 1613 . The sex finally died out, now impoverished and meaningless, in the male line in 1843.

In addition to agriculture and forestry, mining was also a major activity for several centuries. B. in the Siflitzgraben, determining the economic development of the localities of today's municipality. The Wallnerhaus in Lind from around 1500 (municipal office since 1982) is a reminder of the mining era.

In 1850 the community of Lind was constituted. In 1902 the cadastral community of Blaßnig was split off and became independent as the local community of Kleblach. In 1964 the two communities were united under their current name, in 1973 and 1988 minor area corrections were made.

At the time of the 2001 census, the community of Kleblach-Lind had 1,299 inhabitants, 98.2% of whom were Austrian and 1.0% German citizens. For the Roman Catholic Church to 91.1% of the community population known for Protestant Church 4.7% without religious confession was 3.1%.

  • The parish church of St. Bartholomew on the southern outskirts of Lind is a wall pillar church with a Gothic layout and a late Baroque western part. Lind was founded around 1139 and mentioned in a document in 1242 as a parish.
  • The Maria Hilf chapel , an originally Gothic, today Baroque-style building, was consecrated in 1347 and served as the chapel of Unterlind Castle.
  • The Hubertuskapelle in Siflitz is an open path chapel with a picture of Saint Hubertus . It was built in 1979.

The Drautal Straße (B 100) and the Drautalbahn (Kleblach-Lind station, served by the S-Bahn line S1 of the S-Bahn Carinthia , built in 1880/90) run through the municipality .

coat of arms

The coat of arms of the Lords of Lind with tiered division was already used on the gravestone of Perchthold von Lind in 1349, and the family continued to use it unchanged. The circumstances surrounding the choice of motif are unknown. The municipality took over the coat of arms unchanged, it was awarded to it on February 19, 1977 with the following blazon : "A silver shield with a red step on the right." The flag is white and red with an incorporated coat of arms.
