content

The German doctor Dr. Frank Hofmann sets up clinics in several countries, mostly with development aid, helps to build them up, and supports the doctors there, who often include German colleagues, with difficult decisions and operations. Hofmann first works on Boracay an island in the Philippines , then in Thailand in Phuket and in the Dominican Republic. After looking after the "Clinica Maya" in Tulum , Mexico for a while, he ended up in Cuba , where he met his great love ( Gaby Dohm ) again and finally died. In all of the episodes he saves local patients and tries his hand at local doctors as mental support. As in other hospital series, some personal fates (Hofmann could not save the wife and child of a lawyer, he wants revenge and seeks his life; doctor's son commits malpractice during surgery on his own father etc.) and events relating to patients and clinics ( Plague on the ward; faith healers interfere; amnesias; love, divorces etc.).
