Koës is a village in the Keetmanshoop-Land constituency of the ǁKaras region in southern Namibia , around 120 kilometers northeast of Keetmanshoop . The area around Koës is located on a plateau of the Kalahari at about 1200 m . Places in the vicinity include Aroab , Jakkalsvlei, Khoexas and Garinais.
history
Koës has its origins as a traditional Nama -Siedlung and had during the Namakrieges 1904-1908 armed conflict, of which two tombs of members of the protection force (often called " military cemetery ") is witness. Key landmarks Koës are the Mesosaurus - fossils , the typical Karakul breeding and husbandry as well as the often encountered quiver trees .
