Career

Asllani in PSG jersey

Asllani started playing football at Vimmerby IF . As a teenager she recommended herself for the youth selection teams of Svenska Fotbollförbundet . As a result, she also moved into the notebooks of higher-class clubs and was signed in 2007 by the club Linköpings FC , which played in the first-class Damallsvenskan . Parallel to her debut in the first division, she stayed in the junior national teams and took part with the U-19 selection in the European Championship 2008 , in which she failed with the team in the semifinals at the eventual European champions Italy.

As a regular player in the first division season in 2008 , Asllani recommended herself with 21 league appearances in which she scored nine goals for the Swedish national team. On September 27th of that year she made her debut in the 2-0 victory over the Romanian national team with goals from Therese Sjögran and Nilla Fischer in the national team. As a result, she stayed in the national selection and was considered by national coach Thomas Dennerby in the squad for the 2009 European Championship in Finland , in which she was able to score a goal in four games. It was not considered for the 2011 World Cup in Germany, but was included in the Swedish squad for the 2012 Olympic Games , where it was used in all four games. In September 2012 Asllani moved to the French first division partner Paris Saint-Germain .

In 2013 she was part of the Swedish squad at the European Championship finals and was used in all five games, but was eliminated in the semi-finals against defending champions Germany . In the quarter-finals against Iceland, she scored her second goal in the final of the European Championship in a 4-0 draw. In May 2015 she was nominated for the 2015 World Cup. In 2015 she advanced to the European Cup final with Paris Saint-Germain , but lost to 1. FFC Frankfurt . Before the game in the Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn-Sportpark , she was critical of the location of the final. In the 2015/16 winter break , she prematurely terminated her contract with the capital city club, where she was barely part of the starting lineup recently. On January 22, 2016, she signed up to June 30, 2017 at Manchester City Ladies FC in the FA Women's Super League .

At the World Cup, she started in the first group match against Nigeria , then was not taken into account against the USA and only came on as a substitute for Australia 15 minutes before the end of the game. In the round of 16 against Germany she was only substituted on in the 67th minute when the score was 2-0, but was unable to give her team any new impetus and then lost 4-1, which ended the World Cup for Sweden prematurely. Since there were four European teams that were eliminated in the round of 16, a qualifying tournament was scheduled to determine the third European Olympic participant . Asllani was not considered for the tournament in which Sweden qualified for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . There it was used in all games. She was one of the most successful Swedish shooters in the penalty shoot-out in the quarter-finals, but she was the only Swede to miss in the penalty shoot-out in the semi-final against hosts Brazil . But since two Brazilians also missed, the Swedes moved into the final of the Olympic Games for the first time. That was then lost to Germany with 1: 2.

In qualifying for the 2017 European Championship , she was only used in the last four games, but played the full distance and scored three goals. Sweden qualified as group winners in the penultimate game. At the EM she was used in the four games, but was eliminated in the quarterfinals against the hosts and eventual winners Netherlands . A month before the European Championship, she made her 100th international match on June 8, 2017 in the 1-0 defeat in Gothenburg against the USA .

In qualifying for the 2019 World Cup , she was used in all seven games played and scored four goals, most of the Swedish players. On May 16, she was also nominated for the World Cup . At the World Cup she was also used in all seven games, scoring three goals. As group runner-up they reached the knockout round, where they won 1-0 against Canada in the round of 16 . In the quarter-finals, the Swedes won a competitive game against the German team after 24 years and thus qualified for the 2020 Olympic Games. In the semi-finals, they were defeated by European champions Netherlands after extra time, but were then able to win the game for third place against England .

Shortly after winning the game for third place, Asllani dissolved her contract in Linköping on July 15, 2019 and signed three days later on July 18, 2019 with CD Tacón with a subsequent contract from the 2020 season with Real Madrid , the 2020/2021 Take over license from Tacon. She is the first player to sign a contract with the future women's football department in Madrid.
