Kurt Fluri (born August 19, 1955 in Solothurn ; entitled to live in Solothurn and Herbetswil ) is a Swiss politician ( FDP ). He has been city ​​president of Solothurn since 1993 and national councilor since 2003 .

Life

Kurt Fluri studied law at the universities of Bern and Basel . He was licensed to practice law and notary in Solothurn and then worked as a lawyer for nine years. In 1985 he was elected to the municipal council of the city of Solothurn, and in 1989 he made the leap to the cantonal council of the canton of Solothurn . There was also chairman of the FDP parliamentary group from 1999 to 2003. In 1993 he took over the city council of Solothurn, which he still holds today. After his election to the National Council in the 2003 elections , he gave up his seat on the Cantonal Council. In the National Council today he is in the State Political Commission (Vice-President) and in the Commission for Transport and Telecommunications . From 2003 to 2011 he was on the Legal Affairs Commission . In 2011 he ran unsuccessfully for the Council of States .

Fluri is a colonel in the Swiss Army and was President of Military Tribunal 4 until the end of 2009. He is married and has three daughters and two sons.
