Kurt Hamrin (born November 19, 1934 in Stockholm ) is a former Swedish football player and coach and ice hockey player .
Career
In the club
Hamrin was not the only Scandinavian to play soccer in summer and ice hockey in winter - but he was one of the few who made it to national team in both sports: “Kurre”, his Swedish nickname, finally made the decision despite two international ice hockey matches for lawn sport and became second division champion and promoted team with AIK in 1952.
From 1956 the right winger followed in the footsteps of his compatriots Gunnar Gren , Gunnar Nordahl and Nils Liedholm and became a professional in Italy . There Kurre became the little bird (Italian l'uccellino ). In Serie A , he celebrated most of his successes with Fiorentina and AC Milan : he became champion , twice cup winners , won the Mitropa Cup as well as the European Cups of national champions and cup winners. He also played for Juventus Turin , AC Padua and AS Napoli . In the all-time top scorer list of the top Italian league, Hamrin ranks seventh. In 1972 he briefly returned to Sweden ( IFK Stockholm ), but now lives in Florence again . In 2011 he received the honorary award from the incumbent UEFA President Michel Platini at the Fotbollsgalan .
In the national team
Due to his professional time in Italy, Kurt Hamrin only made 32 appearances for Sweden between 1953 and 1965, but also scored 16 goals there. At the World Cup in 1958 he was one of the best Swedish players and was runner-up. He scored a decisive goal against West Germany in the semifinals; For parts of the German public, however, he was more of the “bogeyman” who provoked Erich Juskowiak's dismissal in this game and thus caused Germany's defeat.
