Kurt Wimmer (politician)

Kurt Wimmer (born June 28, 1957 in Vienna ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ). From 1999 to 2013, Wimmer was district chairman of the 5th Viennese district Margareten .

Wimmer attended a higher technical college between 1971 and 1976 and was then employed from 1976 to 1993 at the Austrian Federal Railways in the electrical construction management in Vienna. He then worked from 1993 to 1995 as coordinator for electrical engineering in the Vienna Federal Railway Directorate, before taking over responsibility for the technology and design of the Austrian contact line systems at ÖBB in the energy division in 1995 as a contact line technician.

Wimmer joined the SPÖ in 1981 and worked from 1987 to 1996 as an expert lay judge at the Vienna Labor and Social Court. In 1994 he was elected chairman of Section 6 of the SPÖ Margareten, and since 1996 he has also been a member of the board of the SPÖ Margareten. Wimmer represented the SPÖ from 1997 to 1999 as a district councilor in the Margareten district council, on February 16, 1999 he took over the office of district chairman, which he held until March 19, 2013.

Wimmer is married and has one daughter.
