Lübeck Council 1533
The council of the Hanseatic City of Lübeck in 1533 , the high point of the Wullenwever time in Lübeck.
Lübeck 1533
In 1533 the council of the Hanseatic city of Lübeck was supplemented again. The death of Mayor Gottschalck Lunte , who was elected from the 64-er Citizens' Committee in 1531, and Mattheus Packebusch 's retirement due to his age, made the election of two mayors necessary. In addition to several deaths, the council was downsized by the resignation of several of the citizens' committee members who had come to the council in 1531 and who no longer supported Wullenwever's policy. Jürgen Wullenwever also wanted to counter the growing opposition to his increasingly aggressive foreign policy. In February 1533 therefore advisable committee members were again raised to the council. With this new election, Wullenwever himself entered the council and immediately became mayor. In addition, he called again on the alleged mandate of the city's founder, Heinrich the Lion , according to which a third of the 24 council members should always rest from his official duties. He interpreted it to mean that the eight eldest councilors were forced to withdraw. In 1534 they were completely excluded from the council for a few months.
