Ladislav Fouček

Ladislav Fouček (born December 10, 1930 in Prague , † July 4, 1974 in Munich ) was a Czech cyclist and national champion in cycling .

Athletic career

Fouček achieved his greatest sporting success at the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne . He won the silver medal both in the 1000 meter time trial and in the tandem race with Václav Machek . In the sprint he was classified fifth. He was also at the start at the 1952 Games in Helsinki , where he was 12th in the 1000-meter time trial. Fouček was the Czech sprint champion in 1954, 1956 and 1957. He won the championship in the 1000-meter time trial in 1954, 1956 and 1960. In contrast, he could not win a title in the tandem race, in 1960 he was in the final with his partner Jan Pokorný , but this was no longer played due to heavy rain. In 1952 he won the team pursuit title with the ATK Prague team , and in 1953 he was the title holder with the UDA Prague team . He won the most important sprinter tournament in the Czech Republic at the time, the Grand Prix Framar ( Velká cena Framaru in Czech ), from 1952 to 1956.

Fouček later moved to the Federal Republic of Germany , where he also died in 1974.
