Lalawélé Atakora (born November 9, 1990 in Lomé ) is a Togolese football player . The midfielder , who won the West African Championship with the Togolese national team in 2011 , has played in his home country, Norway , Sweden and Turkey in his career so far .
Career
Atakora first attracted attention at the 2007 U-17 World Cup . In the following years he was courted by several European clubs, like many African talents, he decided to move to Norway. In 2009 he joined Fredrikstad FK , where he first played in the youth team. Towards the end of the first division season 2009 he made his debut as a substitute in the Tippeligaen and came to two short appearances. After relegation to the second-class Adeccoligaen at the end of the year, his work permit in Norway expired, but the club found a solution and awarded him to the Swedish third division club IFK Värnamo in Division 1 for the first half of 2010 . He scored three goals in eleven games.
In the summer of 2010 Atakora returned to Fredrikstad FK, but again did not get beyond the status of a supplementary player. In five short appearances he contributed to the direct return of the club to the first division, but his contract was not extended. Therefore, he returned to his home country and joined Liberty Sport du Togo . In May 2011 he took part with the national team in the WAFU Cup of Nations. In the 3-2 final win against Nigeria , he advanced to the match winner with two goals and one assist and was voted the best player of the tournament.
In August 2011 Atakora moved again to Sweden. With the multiple national champion AIK he signed a contract until the end of the season with the option of extension. In his first half year, mainly a supplementary player, he won a regular place in preparation for the Allsvenskan season in 2012 . After mixed performances in the first season games developed a duel with Daniel Gustavsson for the place on the left wing, so that he wavered between regular formation and substitute bench.
In the summer of 2013 he moved to the Turkish TFF 1st Lig on loan to the promoted Balıkesirspor . With this club he was runner-up in the TFF 1st Lig at the end of the 2013/14 season and rose to the Süper Lig . After this success he left this club again. In 2014 he moved to Helsingborgs IF .
With his move to the second division side Adana Demirspor , Atakora continued his career in Turkey in the summer of 2017.
