Circle Putzig
The Putzig district was a Prussian district that existed from 1887 to 1920. It was located in the part of West Prussia that fell to Poland after the First World War through the Treaty of Versailles in 1920 and was called the Polish Corridor . The district town was Putzig , earlier also Pautzke (Polish Puck ). The Hela Peninsula belonged to the district area . Today the former district area is in the Polish Pomeranian Voivodeship .
history
Due to the continuous increase in the population of West Prussia in the 19th century, some districts turned out to be too large and a reduction in size appeared necessary. On April 1, 1887, the new Putzig district with the district office in the town of Putzig was formed from the northern part of the Neustadt district in West Prussia . The district was on the Baltic coast and included, among other things, the Hela peninsula .
After the First World War , the Putzig district had to be ceded to Poland by the German Reich on January 10, 1920 due to the provisions of the Peace Treaty . The circle continued in Poland as Powiat Pucki .
During the German occupation of Poland from 1939 to 1945 , the district belonged to the district of Neustadt (Westpr.) In the Reichsgau Danzig-West Prussia .
