Lanny Bell

Lanny D. Bell (* 30th April 1941 ; † 26. August 2019 ) was an American emeritus professor of Egyptology at the University of Chicago Oriental Institute .

Lanny Bell studied Egyptology at the University of Chicago until 1963 and received her doctorate in the same subject from the University of Pennsylvania in 1976 . Since 1967 he has worked repeatedly in Egypt, where he has made a particular contribution to documenting the monuments. His main research interests were the ancient Egyptian kingdom, the temples of Thebes and Egyptian epigraphy .

From 1968, Bell was married to the archaeologist Martha Rhoads Bell , who died in a traffic accident in 1991 .
