As leakage cloth (including a rubber dam , Oral protective cloth. Engl dental dam ) describes a film which during sex of the vulva or anus is placed of the sexual partner to authenticate to the oral sex to protect against the transmission of disease-causing germs. The risk of infection with HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases such as hepatitis B is significantly reduced by this barrier. During oral vaginal intercourse ( cunnilingus ), the licking sheet prevents the sexual partner from absorbing vaginal fluid and menstrual secretions . Also for oral anal intercourse ( anilingus ), licking cloths are an important protective measure in terms of safer sex , since with oroanal contact the active partner through the mouth in addition to HIV , HPV and hepatitis B additional risks of infection (e.g. from hepatitis A , intestinal parasites or intestinal bacteria ) is exposed.

For a better hold on the side facing the vulva or anus, the licking sheet is moistened with a lubricant suitable for latex products and spread over the vulva or anal area.
As an alternative, cut open condoms , rubber towels or tear-resistant household foil are also used. While cut open condoms offer good security and these self-made licking sheets are also recommended by medical organizations, there are no studies on the safety of using household foil. One must assume application risks, since these foils can be considerably more permeable for pathogens and the tear resistance is questionable. If you cut a leak sheet from a condom yourself, a condom without a spermicide or lubricant coating should be chosen.
