The Lekane is a form of the ancient Greek vases. It is a flat bowl with two horizontal handles attached to the sides. Unlike the similar Lekanis , the Lekane has no lid. In addition, it is usually larger. The use is not entirely secure, the Lekane was probably used to store food, possibly oil or the like. They were a popular image carrier in Greek vase painting .
