The Lexus SC is a passenger car model by the Japanese car manufacturer Lexus , which was produced from summer 1991 to mid-2010. The first generation produced until autumn 2000 was a two-door, luxury- class coupé , while the second generation was a convertible with a steel folding roof. In Japan the SC was sold under the name Toyota Soarer .

On June 1, 1991, the Lexus SC 400 was presented in the USA ( Toyota Soarer in Japan). The SC 300 followed in July 1992. Both vehicle variants were designed in the “Calty Design Research Incorporated” in California .
The SC 400 was named Import Car of the Year 1992 in the automobile magazine “ Motor Trend ” and from 1992 to 1998 it was among the top ten places in Car und Driver magazine .

The Lexus SC 430 was presented at the Paris Motor Show in 2000 and went into production in May 2001. The design of the car came from Sotiris Kovos . The second generation SC is based on the Lexus GS .
The vehicle was powered by a 4.3-liter engine ( VVT-i ) with 220 kW (300 PS) and a max. Torque of 430 Nm .
In 2004 Lexus introduced the special edition " Pebble Beach Edition", which was created in cooperation with the Pebble Beach Company.
In spring 2006 the vehicle was slightly revised. It received a slightly modified front, a slightly modified rear and new taillights. The power fell slightly to 207 kW (286 PS)
In 2010 there were only 16 new registrations in Germany. Production ended in July 2010.
