location

The lake is located in the southwest of Cologne , about 15 kilometers from the city limits in front of the Erftstadt district of Liblar . The federal highway 265 , the Luxemburger Straße , leads directly past it .

Emergence

The Liblarer See is one of the largest lakes in the Ville Lake District in the southern district of the Ville . Like almost all of these lakes, the Liblarer See is the water-filled remaining hole of a former open - cast lignite mine , the Liblar mine . Lignite was mined here from 1900 to 1961.

use

Due to its multiple uses, the 52.8 hectare lake is one of the most important lakes in the lake district. It offers a large number of sports and recreational opportunities. In addition to the forest and hiking trails that surround it, the water area is also used intensively. There are four stakeholders: float, the fishing club Liblar , the sailing club Ville and canoeists, the water sports Liblar . On the north bank next to the outdoor pool there is a year-round campsite with permanently installed vehicles. The lake is a popular attraction for Cologne and the Rhein-Erft district , especially in summer .
