League Cup
As the League Cup is known in team sports usually a national cup competition, whose participants often belong to a professional association or league have many professional players in their team. This distinguishes the cup competition from the national cup, in which amateur teams also take part. In some countries, winning the league cup is now even more valuable and more important than the national cup win. In German football, the DFL League Cup, introduced in 1997, replaced the DFB Supercup as the start of the season and was played in a tournament that lasted a few days before the start of the Bundesliga season. After the event in 2007 , the competition was discontinued.
