Lilian Franck

Lilian Franck (born March 11, 1971 in Würzburg ) is a German director and film producer .

Life

Lilian Franck received her training at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg (diploma in directing documentary film) and the French Grande Ecole Le Fresnoy - studio national des arts contemporains. In 2002 she received the young talent award of the Franco-German Journalism Award for the documentary Halbe Chance . This was her first co-direction with Robert Cibis , with whom she had founded the production company OVALmedia . They made numerous documentaries, such as B. on children and psychotropic drugs ( happiness in a can ).

In 2008, Lilian Franck laid the foundation for her career as a movie director with Pianomania . The film about the search for the perfect sound shows the nerve-wracking collaboration between piano technician Stefan Knüpfer and star pianists such as Lang Lang , Pierre-Laurent Aimard and Alfred Brendel . Pianomania ran very successfully in 20 countries in the cinema and won a. a. at the International Film Festival of Locarno the price of the "Semaine de la Critique", the Golden Gate Award at the San Francisco International Film Festival and the German Film Award in the category Best Sound Design . He was also awarded the title “Particularly valuable”. Abroad, too, Pianomania received good reviews in the New York Times and the Guardian.

Lilian Franck's horizon of experience includes different genres: direct cinema-style documentaries filmed with observation, reports and documentaries. In 2017 she completed her personal investigation trustWHO . The film examines the influences of private industry on the World Health Organization and opened in German cinemas on March 1, 2018; then it was broadcast on ARTE and ORF . That same year, Franck also quit Fuck Fame (co-directed by Robert Cibis ). This movie shows the fight of the young rapper Uffie between her personal self and her public person as a pop star.

For her production Free Lunch Society (director: Christian Tod) she organized a large-scale crowd premiere together with OVALmedia Cologne GmbH on February 1, 2018.
