biography

Lisa Hörnblad comes from Örnsköldsvik and starts for the Höga Kusten Alpin association based there. In her youth, she decided against her two other sporting passions, soccer and ski jumping, and devoted herself entirely to alpine racing.

After two winters at FIS level , Hörnblad took part in the Junior World Championships in Jasná in 2014 . In three other participations, a fourth downhill rank at the home World Cup in Åre was her best individual result. In Sochi , she and her teammates won the silver medal in the team competition in 2016 . In December 2014 she made her debut in the European Cup , where she initially competed in giant slalom and slalom . She started downhill for the first time in January 2017 and achieved good results right away. Without a single World Cup start, she took part in the World Championship in St. Moritz and finished in 19th and 33rd place in combination and downhill. On February 25, 2017 she celebrated her first European Cup victory in the downhill from Sarntal and ended the season with eighth place overall in the downhill classification. In March she won the Swedish championship titles in downhill, super-G and combined .

On December 16, 2017, she made her World Cup debut in the first Super-G in Val-d'Isère . Only one day later she won her first World Cup points in the second race with rank 25. With two European Cup victories and an 18th place in the World Cup downhill from Garmisch-Partenkirchen , she traveled to her first Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang , where she finished 17th and 24th in the speed disciplines. In the 2017/18 European Cup , she won the combined and super-G scores. In the following season, she achieved her best World Cup results for the time being , ranking 12th in the Super-G in St. Moritz and 11th and 14th in the downhill runs from Garmisch and Crans-Montana . At her home World Championships in Åre she finished 9th, 20th and 25th in combination, super-G and downhill.

At the end of August 2019, she sustained a cruciate ligament injury in her right knee during summer training .

Trivia

On January 25, 2019, Hörnblad and her teammates Lin Ivarsson and Helena Rapaport saved the life of a German functionary on the sidelines of the Kandahar races in Garmisch-Partenkirchen . The 60-year-old had suffered a heart attack in a gondola , whereupon the three Swedes gave first aid. Hörnblad carried out cardiopulmonary resuscitation until the rescue helicopter arrived at the mountain station.
