List of political parties in Guinea-Bissau

This list shows the main political parties in Guinea-Bissau .

After independence from Portugal in 1973 and 1974 and the subsequent one-party system of the PAIGC , a multi-party system was only introduced in Guinea-Bissau in 1991. The party landscape has since been dominated by the PAIGC and the Partido para a Renovação Social (PRS). In response to this, on January 10, 2014, 23 opposition parties that accused the two major parties of blocking political life in the country joined forces to form the Fórum Guiné-Bissau electoral alliance . Of these 23 parties, only the Partido Republicano da Independência e Desenvolvimento (PRID) held a seat in parliament in 2014.

• Partido para a Renovação Social ( Party of Social Renewal , PRS)
• Fórum Guiné-Bissau (Forum Guinea-Bissau), electoral alliance made up of 23 smaller opposition parties
• Frente de Libertação e Independência Nacional da Guiné ( Front for the Liberation and National Independence of Guinea , FLING), has not participated in elections since 2004
