The box set Live Shit: Binge & Purge (eng about. "Live stuff: drinking and puke" ) is the first live album by the US heavy metal band Metallica . It was released on November 23, 1993.

Origin and content

When it was originally released, the set consisted of three VHS tapes and three CDs . In 2003 it was re-released, replacing the three VHS with two DVDs . The concerts in San Diego and Mexico City were recorded during the Wherever-We-May-Roam and Nowhere-Else-to-Roam tours , respectively , while the Seattle concert was recorded during the Damaged Justice tour.

The original version of this box set was published in a cardboard box in the design of a tour equipment box, there was space for the three VHS cassettes and CDs, a “Snakepit” ID, a spray stencil and a 72-page booklet with some tour photos and handwritten comments. In the new edition from 2003, however, the booklet was not included, but can only be found in the form of several JPEG files on the second DVD.

reception

Stephen Thomas Erlewine of Allmusic wrote that the sheer dimensions of the box set frightened everyone but the toughest fans. Nevertheless, the box with the concert in Mexico shows the "Power" Metallicas. Live shit is a "godsend" for hardcore fans . He awarded 3.5 out of five stars.
