Louis Jeannin (born October 6, 1907 , † unknown) was a French motorcycle racer .

Career

Jeannins was demonstrably active from 1931 to 1936 and started for the manufacturer Jonghi . In 1931 he was third behind Patural ( Velocette ) and his brand colleague Marcel Perrin at the Bol d'Or , which was held at the Circuit de la Ville in Saint-Germain-en-Laye .

Jeannin celebrated his greatest successes in the 1932 season. In April he won the 350 cc race of the 11th Nations Grand Prix on the 3.862 km long Pista del Littorio in Rome ahead of the Italian Guglielmo Sandri ( Rudge ) and his team mate Fernand Renier from Belgium . Since this race was also the European championship run , Jeannin won the 350 title of the European motorcycle championship in 1932 . The internationally dominant drivers and manufacturers from Great Britain were not represented due to the long journey. Jeannin thus became the first French European motorcycle champion. Only 47 years later, in 1979 , a Frenchman won an international title with Patrick Pons (on a Yamaha in the Formula 750 World Championship ). A little later he was also successful at the Bol d'Or on a 350 cm³ Jonghi.

Between 1933 and 1934 Jeannin set a total of 14 world records at the Autodrome de Linas-Montlhéry . He achieved ten of them in the 350 cm³ category in 1933 together with his teammates Perrin and Hector Andréino, and he placed four in the quarter liter class in 1934. He also won the 250 cc race for the French Grand Prix of the MCF in Montlhéry on Jonghi and Prester-Jonghi in both years .

In the 1935 season Jeannin was on Prester-Jonghi French champion in the quarter-liter class.
