Lucky Luke - Off to the Wild West (Tous à l'Ouest: Une aventure de Lucky Luke) is a French cartoon produced by Xilam in 2007 based on the Lucky Luke comic California or Death , written by Morris and Goscinny . It is also under the reference title Lucky Luke - Go West! known.
action
In New York City in 1880 a trial takes place over the four Dalton brothers , for which Lucky Luke has to appear as a witness. However, the bandits manage to flee with a smuggled revolver and rob a bank. In the end they are stopped by the cowboy and end up in a parking lot for the truck. Outstanding members of the trek are
- the always optimistic Russian trek spokesman Pyotr Verkovitchkivintchkayoff,
- the fascinated school teacher Miss Littletown,
- the cursing but lovable muleteer Barrow,
- the Chinese chef Mr. Tang,
- the German gravedigger Bones
and
- the French hairdresser Monsieur Pierre,
Lucky Luke's horse Jolly Jumper falls in love with his mare Louise. Lucky Luke learns that these people have bought a piece of land in California and have to get there in 80 days, otherwise they will lose their right to own it and still not get their money back. Lucky Luke sees through the sly broker Crook right away and offers to lead them there. However, he points out that the shorter route is also more dangerous. The Daltons will be housed in Barrow's wagons during the trip. Meanwhile, Crook tries several times to prevent her from progressing. He even wants to help the Daltons to escape, but they refuse the offer because they hid their prey in one of the cars during the chase and want to find it again first. To make things easier, mark the car that you have already searched with a cross. Lucky Luke, who did not miss this, always wipes away the cross, so that the bandits, without knowing it, keep searching the same car over and over again.
During a stopover in the town of Hole Gulch, the trek not only finds new members in the singer Molly and her saloon dancers, but Lucky Luke also meets his old friend, the dense dog Rantanplan. Crook continues to sabotage the trek by drilling the trek's water barrel in front of the deadly desert or by drawing the attention of the Komantschen to them in the Indian territory . Lucky Luke can reassure the Indians by giving them Monsieur Pierre's wigs as a "scalp collection". When Crook even destroys the only bridge that leads to the destination, the settlers arrive on time with the help of hot air balloons on the wagons. There they have to find out that the promised land is a wasteland. Joe, the smallest of the Daltons, wants to take advantage of this to win the people over and offers them his prey. However, when he realizes that the long Averell has long since found her, a wild chase ensues through a mine shaft, with some having the booty of the Daltons and the others seeking revenge on Crook. Shortly afterwards, they discover that there is gold in the mine and that they are rich. Lucky Luke's new friends are now in a heated debate about which post they want to give him as a thank you, but when they want to ask him the cowboy has already disappeared to deliver the Daltons, Crook and his lawyer Bartleby to jail.
Film and comic
Some points from the comic have been changed for the film. So the Daltons and the fraudulent broker do not appear in it and the trek is not under time pressure to get to its destination. Lucky Luke becomes the guide to replace the greedy predecessor Frank Malone, who in the comic also wants to prevent the trek from continuing. The Sioux in the comic are replaced by the Komantschen and the chief “Angry Jackal” by chief “Crazy Wolf”. The trek spokesman is not a Russian either, but an American named Mister Boston. During the party at the Komantschen, Lucky tells Luke that he quit smoking a long time ago. For this fact he was honored by many people.
Some parts of the film come from other issues in the Lucky Luke series, including The Legacy of Rantanplan and Western Circus . The film's producers were also responsible for the animated series Oggy and the Cockroaches , which is why the three cockroaches also have a guest appearance here.
Reviews
"Solid, but extremely conventionally made and drawn cartoon without a lot of wit and esprit."
“A little over the top, but nice old-fashioned animation. Conclusion: A bit tiring due to wild slapstick. "
