Lucky Luke - The great adventure (Original title: Les Dalton en cavale ) is a comic book adaptation from 1983 and the third cartoon based on the Lucky Luke comics by René Goscinny and Morris .

action

The Dalton brothers Joe, William, Jack and Averell use the prison director's birthday party to break out of prison. After being informed of this by a telegram, Lucky Luke sets out to track down the Daltons. They are on their way to Canada and try to remain anonymous under the name of the Jones brothers. After the Daltons committed several raids in Canada, Lucky Luke is supported by the Canadian Mountie Colonel Winston Pendergast. William, Jack and Averell are captured and later freed by Joe. The Daltons work in Canada first as lumberjacks, then as cooks, are finally tracked down, arrested and taken back to US prison.

The mother of the Daltons, Ma Dalton, smuggles a file in a loaf into prison when her sons visit, and they succeed in breaking out again. Joe disguises himself as Ma Dalton and raids a bank, whereupon Ma is arrested by Lucky Luke. When the Daltons free Ma from prison, they take Lucky Luke, who disguises himself as Ma, with them. While the Daltons are on their way to an abandoned tunnel with the disguised Lucky Luke, Ma also manages to escape from prison. The Daltons and Ma are now going to jail together, where Ma works as a cook. Since the prison director doesn't like Ma's cooking skills, he immediately sends her to another prison.

The reform-minded Senator Gerry Mander from Washington selects the Daltons for a rehabilitation program: The Daltons are given the chance to live honestly for a month in the remote town of Tortilla Gulch and if they prove themselves during this time and do nothing wrong, they will be theirs Released prison sentence. The senator donates some money for the new beginning and assigns Lucky Luke to be their probation officer. After the Daltons were initially rejected by the residents and met with prejudice, all attempts to build an existence through honest work failed until they finally came up with the idea of founding their own bank.

The criminal Sam wants to take advantage of the situation of the Daltons and tries to provoke them first and later assaults a gang disguised as the Daltons. After the residents of Tortilla Gulch realize they have wrongly accused the Daltons, they deposit their savings into the Daltons' bank as a reconciliation. Due to a misunderstanding, the Daltons are finally sent back to prison after the thirtieth day has passed, because they did not take into account that the month has 31 days.

Reviews

"A superficial re-edition of the adventures of the comic strip character" Lucky Luke "in the hunt for the Dalton gang, who break out of prison several times before they can be rendered harmless. Only moderately entertaining due to constant repetitions. "

"Lucky Luke, up to now a chain smoker, stopped smoking here for the first time and had a blade of grass in his mouth instead of a butt. Conclusion: funny situations and flippant dialogues. "
