Luigi Arienti (born January 6, 1937 in San Carlo di Desio ) is a former Italian cyclist .

Athletic career

At the Olympic Games in Rome in 1960 , Luigi Arienti and the Italian four-man team were Olympic champion in the team pursuit , together with Marino Vigna , Franco Testa and Mario Vallotto . He then switched to the professionals and was five times Italian runner-up in the single pursuit . In 1967 he was tested positive for doping agents at the UCI track world championships and was fined. He also started in road races and six-day races , but without major success. In 1972 he ended his cycling career. During his career as a professional driver, he achieved four victories in road races. At the Giro d`Italia he was part of the Molteni team in 1961 and finished the tour in 64th place.
