Luigi Taverna (born February 22, 1949 in Turin ) is a former Italian racing driver .

Racing career

Luigi Taverna was successful as a sports car driver in the 1980s and 1990s . The monoposto career only lasted a short time before that . His participation in the Italian Formula 2000 championship in 1983 is worth mentioning .

From 1985 Taverna was active in touring and sports car sports. He started in the World Sports Car Championship and the European Touring Car Championship . He competed six times in the Le Mans 24-hour race. His best and only place in the final ranking was 30th overall in 1993 , achieved with partners Fabio Magnani and Roberto Ragazzi in the Lucchini SP91 . His greatest success was winning the 1992 Vallelunga 6-hour race , a touring car race at the Autodromo Vallelunga .
