Lukáš Šembera

Lukáš Šembera (born October 16, 1992 in Brno ) is a former Czech motorcycle racer .

Career

Lukáš Šembera started his racing career in 2000 on supermotos . In 2003 he switched to minibikes , in 2005 and 2006 he competed in the 125 cm³ categories of the national championships in the Czech Republic and Slovakia . Šembera began his international career in 2007 in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup , which he finished 15th.

He made his debut in the motorcycle world championship in 2008 at his home Grand Prix, the Czech Grand Prix in Brno . The Czech started as a wildcard pilot in the Italian private team Matteoni Racing on an Aprilia and finished 17th.

In the following season , Šembera started as a regular driver for Matteoni in the 125cc World Championship, but without being able to score points.

On September 19, 2009 Lukáš Šembera suffered such severe vertebral fractures in a fall during the Olympia Supermoto night show , a promotional event in his hometown of Brno , that he has since been paralyzed and had to end his career at the age of 16.
