Márton Fucsovics (born February 8, 1992 in Nyíregyháza ) is a Hungarian tennis player .

Career

Fucsovics started playing tennis at the age of five and achieved several great successes in his junior career. He won his first major title in doubles at the 2009 US Open . In 2010 he won singles at Wimbledon and also made it to the semifinals of the Australian Open and the US Open. As a result, he reached the top position in the junior world rankings on July 5, 2010. He also took part in the Summer Youth Olympic Games in Singapore . In singles he was eliminated in the opening round, in doubles he reached the quarter-finals.

At the professional level , Fucsovics was able to qualify for a main field for the first time in 2012 at the tournament in 's-Hertogenbosch . Before that, he always failed, even in Grand Slam tournaments , in the qualifying rounds.

After winning the Challenger tournament from Ilkley thanks to a final victory over Alex Bolt , Fucsovics received a wildcard for the main draw at Wimbledon at the end of June 2017 . Despite a smooth first round defeat against Gilles Müller , he moved into the top 100 of the world rankings for the first time after the tournament.

Fucsovics has been playing for the Hungarian Davis Cup team since 2010 .
