The Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) is considered one of the world's leading business schools . Fundamental research in the field of economic and management theory was carried out at the faculty. Several members and researchers of the MIT Sloan School of Management have been awarded the Alfred Nobel Memorial Prize in Economics , including Paul Samuelson , Franco Modigliani and Robert M. Solow .

The MIT Sloan School of Management is named after Alfred P. Sloan , who sponsored the organization from the 1930s onwards.

For example , former Sloan School alumni include Kofi Annan , the former Secretary-General of the United Nations , Prime Minister of Israel , Benjamin Netanyahu , William C. Ford, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ford Motor Company , and management teacher Sumantra Ghoshal .
