MLB All-Star Game

The 78th MLB All-Star Game 2007 took place on July 10, 2007 at AT&T Park in San Francisco , home of the San Francisco Giants . The actual All-Star Game was the highlight of the All-Star Week from 06-10. July 2007. Traditionally, the all-stars of the two professional leagues American League and National League met each other. The American League team won 5-4.

For Barry Bonds it was the 14th participation in this event. He was named as the only player of the home team San Francisco Giants in the selection. All-Star Week is the most important baseball event in the USA after the World Series .

Last roster place

After the announcement of the roster, a second vote took place in order to allocate the last remaining place in the roster. Chris Young and Hideki Okajima were selected as players for the National League and American League in the All-Star Team. For both of them it was the first nomination for the All-Star Team. It was the first time that only pitchers were available.

The home run derby took place the day before the actual All-Star Game.

Participants were:

Barry Bonds and Ken Griffey Jr. both canceled participation. Miguel Cabrera was injured the previous weekend and was unable to participate.

The winner and thus State Farm Home Run Derby Champion 2007 was Vladimir Guerrero (Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim), he defeated Alex Rios ( Toronto Blue Jays ) in the championship round with 3-2 home runs.
