Abbess's epitaph

Magdalena von Wirsberg († April 23, 1522 ) was abbess of the Himmelkron monastery from 1499 to 1522.

Magdalena came from the von Wirsberg family . She had the monastery church extended by a wing. An inscription with her family coat of arms and the coat of arms of Redwitz in the inner courtyard of the monastery testifies to her building activity in 1516. A relief with the Descent from the Cross, also with an inscription and two coats of arms, was dedicated to her in 1518. According to the inscription on her tomb in the monastery church, she died on Wednesday, April 23, 1522. The epitaph represents her figuratively as the central motif.
