Maggie Grace , actually Margaret Grace Denig , (born September 21, 1983 in Worthington , Ohio ) is an American actress who became known as Shannon Rutherford in the television series Lost .

Life

Maggie Grace was born the oldest of three children. She grew up in her native Worthington, Ohio, where she attended and graduated from local high school. At high school, she already played in school performances. At the age of 16, she went to Los Angeles with her mother to become an actress.

In 2001 she played her first role on the Rachel’s Room web series . She had her next role in the series Septuplets (2002), which was not broadcast on television. She became famous in 2002 for the television film Murder in Greenwich , based on the true story of fifteen-year-old Martha Moxley . For her performance, Grace was nominated for the Young Artist Award in the category Best Young Leading Actress in a TV Movie . In the following years, Grace played mostly guest roles in television series. She was in CSI: Miami (2003), Cold Case - No Victim Is Ever Forgotten (2004) and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (2004) in one episode, before she played a recurring role in Oliver Beene in 2004 took over.

Grace made her breakthrough with the role of Shannon Rutherford in the series Lost , which she played from 2004 to 2005 as the main character. In 2007 she returned to the series and was also seen in the last episode in 2010. In Breaking Dawn - Bite to the End of the Night, Part 1 and Part 2 , the two-part film adaptation of the book " Until (s) zum Ende der Nacht " by Stephenie Meyer , Grace played the role of the vampire Irina in 2011 .

In the sixth season of the Showtime series Californication , she played the leading role of the groupie Faith .

2013 she had alongside Sebastian Stan her Broadway debut at the American Airlines Theater in William Inge with the Pulitzer Prize winning play Picnic .

In February 2015, it was revealed that she was engaged to her boyfriend Matthew Cooke. The couple separated a year later. In February 2017, Grace got engaged to Brent Bushnell, the executive director of an entertainment agency. The couple married on May 28, 2017.
