description

The monument consists of two parts: a bronze figure and a concrete wall. The bronze figure represents an upright, young man. His facial expressions are determined, the arms are slightly away from the body with clenched fists. He has both feet firmly on the ground. The overall shape of the figure is shown in a simple and three-dimensional manner, not exaggerated. The man wears only simple trousers that depict him as a member of the working class . The bare torso and bare feet indicate his imminent execution. He stands in front of a gray wall designed as a diptych . The left part of the wall is smooth and empty; the right part depicts sections of the German labor movement in reliefs . The starting point is the Kapp Putsch of 1920. Senftenberg workers fought against the troops of Major Buchrucker . Five Senftenberg workers were killed. In the following relief, the KPD calls for a common struggle of the working class against the approaching fascism . The chair offered is vacant and tilted, it symbolizes betrayal. Another scene shows workers being persecuted and murdered. In the last relief, a Soviet soldier is depicted as a liberator from fascism.
