Malakoff is a French commune with 30,720 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Hauts-de-Seine department in the Île-de-France region . It borders Paris to the south. The inhabitants are called Malakoffiots .
The national statistics school ENSAE was based in Malakoff for several decades. The EUROCAE offices are here.
The French statistical office Insee had its headquarters in Malakoff since 1975 until it moved to neighboring Montrouge in 2018 .
history
The town of Malakoff was formed on November 8, 1883, when an area of the town of Vanves was separated. The city was named after General Aimable Pélissier , who later became Duke of Malakoff. This received its title after the Fort Malakow (French: Malakoff) in front of Sevastopol , which was conquered in the Crimean War in 1855 under his command.

In Malakoff, there are two stations on the Paris Métrolinie 13 , Malakoff - Plateau de Vanves and Malakoff - Rue Étienne Dolet.
There is also a station on the Paris Montparnasse Transilien lines , Vanves – Malakoff, which, however, is already in the Vanves area, right on the municipal boundary.
Sports
The municipality has two larger stadiums, the Stade Marcel-Cerdan and the Stade Lénine . The largest sports club in Malakoff is Union Sportive Municipale , whose footballers even competed in the second division for one season in the 1970s .
