Manelima ( German  "five men" ) is an East Timorese place and Suco in the administrative office of Laclubar ( municipality of Manatuto ).

The place Manelima is located in the north of the Sucos, near the place Laclubar , at an altitude of 1246  m .

Manelima has 2195 inhabitants (2015), of which 1066 are men and 1129 women. The population density is 47.0 inhabitants / km². There are 314 households in the Suco. Over 98% of the population state that Idaté is their mother tongue. Minorities speak Tetum Prasa , Habun or Tokodede .

Before the 2015 territorial reform, Manelima had an area of ​​46.97 km². Now there are 46.72 km². The Suco is located in the south of the Laclubar administrative office. In the northwest is the Suco Funar , in the north and east of the Suco Orlalan and in the southwest of the Suco Fatumaquerec . In the south of Manelima is the Soibada administrative office with its Sucos Maun-Fahe and Manlala . The southern border of Manelima is formed by the Buarahuin River , the eastern border largely by the Bun . After their confluence, they form the Sáhen .

The overland road that connects the towns of Laclubar and Soibada leads from north to south across the Suco. With the exception of Manelima, all the larger Sucos settlements are located on it. These are Calohan ( Kalohan ), Mane-Atun ( Maneatun ), Hatomanuc , Lafulau , Aman Un ( Amanun ) and Laceno ( Lakenu ). There is a primary school and a medical station in Lafulau.

In the Suco there are the six Aldeias Aman Un , Calohan , Futumanuc , Laceno , Lafulau and Mane-Atun .

history

At the end of 1979 there was an Indonesian internment camp in Lafulau for East Timorese civilians (transit camp) who were supposed to be resettled by the Indonesian occupiers in order to better combat the FALINTIL .

On the night of April 24, 1999, Manelima was burned to the ground by Indonesian security forces.

politics

In the 2004/2005 elections , Domingos da Cunha was elected Chefe de Suco. In the 2009 elections , João de Carvalho won .
