Manfred Noa , born Manfred Simon Noa (born March 22, 1894 in Berlin ; † December 4, 1930 ibid) was a German film director and production designer .

Life

The brother of actress Loo Hardy studied painting at the Berlin School of Applied Arts and then worked as a theater painter and stage designer . At the end of 1915 he began to work as a set designer for the film and especially equipped the dramas and crime novels Richard Oswalds and Johannes Guters .

From 1917 he directed himself, on which he concentrated exclusively from 1919. From 1926 to 1928 he also took over production with his own Noa-Film GmbH. With Nathan the Wise, based on the drama by Lessing Margarete Noa and the two-part historical epic Helena , he delivered his most ambitious achievements. He was temporarily married to actress Eva May .
