Manolo Fábregas (actually: Manuel Sánchez Navarro Schiller ; born July 15, 1921 in Vigo , † February 4, 1996 in Mexico City ) was a Mexican actor, director and film producer of Spanish origin, who was known as El Señor Teatro .

The son of the actor Manuel Sánchez Navarro and the actress Fanny Schiller and grandson of the actress Virginia Fábregas took part in his family tours as a child during the holidays and made his theater debut in 1936 in the play La hiedra . He then took part in various children's films in Mexico and later played the adolescent lover in theater and film productions. He had his first success in Spain in the film La noche de sábado on the side of María Félix .

In 1950 he returned to Mexico and produced several plays there, including Celos al aire with Silvia Pinal , Carmen Montejo and Carlos Cores , directed by Julián Soler . In the same year he was awarded for the television series La telenovela dominical de Manolo Fábregas . In 1951 he married the actress Rafaela Salinas , who became known as Fela Fábregas . Between 1952 and 1955 he produced 150 television films for Canal 4's Sunday program .

At the Teatro de los Insurgentes , Fábregas produced the pieces Testigo de cargo with María Teresa Rivas and Divorciémonos with Silvia Pinal . He later brought Spanish actors such as Aurora Batista , Amparo Rivelles and Enrique Rambal to Mexico for performances . In 1965 he founded the Teatro “Manolo Fábregas” , where he staged plays such as Cualquier miércoles (with Fernando Soler and Silvia Pinal) and - as one of his greatest successes - Violinista en el tejado as a director and actor .

Also in the 1970s Fábregas continued his successful work, u. a. with El diluvio que viene , a piece that was on the repertoire for three years. After a stroke in 1987 he had to give up his activities. In 1990 he founded the Teatro “Virginia Fábregas” , where he mainly performed little-known plays with graduates from the Manolo Fábregas drama school . He died of a heart attack in 1996 .
