Career

In his youth, Späth only played for JSG Ostfildern. His first active position was the TB Ruit until the beginning of 2004 . From Ruit he moved to TSV Neuhausen , where he was the most successful goalscorer in the Regionalliga Süd . In the 2006/2007 season, Späth moved to the Bundesliga club Frisch Auf Göppingen .

Manuel Späth made his debut in the German national team on November 29, 2008 in a friendly against Iceland .

On November 9, 2013 at the Bundesliga game Frisch Auf Göppingen against ThSV Eisenach , Manuel Späth had a very unusual anniversary in the injury-prone professional handball: he played his 250th league game (and thus his 309th professional competitive game, including DHB Cup games and European Cup games) in a row, that is, without missing a single game due to injury or illness. In eleven years in Göppingen, he has only missed one game out of 470 competitive games.

In the summer of 2017, Späth moved to the TVB 1898 Stuttgart . He has the number 9 on his back. For the 2020/21 season he will move to the Portuguese first division club FC Porto .
