Manuel de Jesús Jiménez Ortega
Manuel de Jesús Jiménez Ortega (born October 15, 1952 in Cotuí ) is a Dominican singer and composer.
Live and act
From 1977 Jiménez studied guitar and flute at the Academia Dominicana de Música . His first album was released in 1985. His songs have since been sung by musicians such as Maridalia Hernández , Wilfrido Vargas , Guadalupe Pineda , Miriam Cruz , Ana Belén and Julio Iglesias . The title Derroche became the subject of the music for the Argentine film Caballos desbocados .
Jiménez has been awarded the Casandra Prize several times. 1990 as singer of the year, 1992 as lyricist of the year, 1994 as singer, author and composer. In 1994 his song Con agua de sal , interpreted by Miriam Cruz , was the contribution of the Dominican Republic to the El Festival OTI de la Canción , and the following year he performed the song Un solar en la luna himself at this festival .
