Marcel Maltritz (born October 2, 1978 in Magdeburg ) is a former German soccer player .

Athletic career

Maltritz's football career began at the age of six at TuS 1860 Magdeburg-Neustadt . After two years he was delegated to 1. FC Magdeburg . At FCM he went through all other age groups, mostly as captain. Due to his achievements, Maltritz was already part of the first men's team, although he was still eligible to play for the A-youth team for a year and scored the decisive goals for promotion in the 1996/97 promotion season in the last two games. The following year, Maltritz suffered his first long-term injury: he paused for four months due to a broken fibula. After the injury, he found himself back in the club and even at the selection level.

During the 1998/99 winter break, Maltritz moved to VfL Wolfsburg and was also a regular here. After two and a half years in Wolfsburg, he went to Hamburger SV , with whom he won the league cup in 2003 and had his first two appearances in the European Cup in the 2003/04 season. In 2004 he moved to VfL Bochum, where he played two more UEFA Cup games the following season . Despite relegation in 2005, he stayed with VfL and was captain of the team from 2007 to 2010. With the end of his contract in June 2014, he ended his career. From 2019 he played together with the kit manager of VfL Bochum at DJK Teutonia Ehrenfeld in the Bochum district of the same name .
