Mare Nostrum (swimming)
Mare Nostrum is a series of three swimming events on the European Mediterranean coast , in which the world's swimming elite take part every June. The eight best swimmers, resulting from the results of Monte Carlo , Barcelona and Canet-en-Roussillon , will receive prize money, with the winner being rewarded with 7,000 euros . For every world , Europe , or Mare Nostrum record there are further rewards.

Between 2002 and 2005, a meeting in Rome was also part of the Mare Nostrum swimming series.
